Spring Fundraiser Save the Date

On April 12, 2013, Hoboken Catholic Academy will host the 4th annual Spring Cocktail Party and Silent Auction at the Chart House in Weehawken, New Jersey. Last year 175 members of the HCA Community were in attendance and bid on auction items ranging from Weekend Getaways to more “Priceless Items” such as the Art Work of our talented HCA children. We have some exciting additions to the program this year, which will be announced in the coming weeks. The proceeds from this event and all HCA fundraising efforts help foster development in our school.

The continued support from the members of the HCA community is invaluable, especially given the challenges we have encountered following the storm. We thank all those who assisted in the success of the event last year and look forward to your continued support in 2013. For those who would like to volunteer for this event, there are several opportunities to help out, please email the Fundraising Committee at hcaspring13@gmail.com to volunteer your help.

We invite you to take part in this enjoyable evening and welcome you to share this night with your family and friends.

PTA Mid-Year Newsletter

Dear HCA Parents,

Since it has been 2 months since our PTA meeting, we are writing to give you a mid-year update.  We will schedule our next meeting sometime in January.

Updates:

The Fun Book: The fun book was very successful we profited $2,175.00.

Our Santa Breakfast and Santa Shop: A big thanks to St. Nicks for opening up their gym to us for this special HCA tradition.  A huge thank you to Caroline Damodar-Desloire, Donna Casper and their elves for putting together a wonderful morning for the children. The Breakfast alone profited $2000.00.
The gift wrap sale and Santa shop sale are still being finalized.
On December 6th our children participated in the St Nicks Day. Thank you to our class parent elves for your generous donations. Our HCA shoes were overflowing with lots and lots of goodies; it put big smiles on our children’s faces.
Our fundraisers for both the Spring Cocktail Party -Silent Auction and 5K Walk/Run have been underway since September. Our dedicated chairs and committees have been working hard on making these events very successful.

Information on these fundraiser and how you can be a part of them:

Spring Cocktail-Silent Auction:  The date will be Friday, April 12. We are awaiting finality of the venue.   Reyna Boccio, our Auction chair, along with our acquisitions committee have been working diligently on the venue and have been receiving some wonderful new items for the auction block. If you would like to get on board and help them with acquisitions or have questions please email her at, HCASPRING13@gmail.com.  She is also looking for anyone who might have a contact to live music for the event and/or entertainment for the event.  

5K Walk/Run: Our tentative date is, Saturday, June 1, Pier A in Hoboken. Again thank you to both, Claudia Orlando- claudia@orlandopt.com and Katey Maye- kmmaye@hotmail.com for chairing this event. If you are interested in joining their team or have questions please email them at their respective email address. They are still in need of one person for their Logistics Team and 2 Sponsorship Committee Heads. Anyone who would like to sponsor (be a donor) or works at a company/business that can be a sponsor to the 5K, please email either Katey or Claudia. There are different sponsorship levels and they will be able to speak with you regarding them.

In Progress: Poker Night 2013 (Jan or Feb) date/more information TBA

Going forward the Book Fair, date TBA, and our beautiful Mother’s Day Gifts, “Original Works,” will be taking place.   “Original Works,” is art work made by our children, with the help of our talented art teachers, which we can order in different print formats. 

At this time, no additional fundraisers are being planned to help ease the burden on our families. In turn, we ask everyone to support the current fundraisers by donating, attending and encouraging others to do so as well. We thank you for your continued support.

We will, also, plan fun events for the children accordingly over the next few months. 

We would like to wish everyone, A Very Merry Christmas and A Happy Healthy New Year.

Dear Parents:

The Hoboken Catholic Academy Parent Teacher Association welcomes you to the 2012/2013 school year.  We look forward to seeing familiar and new faces.  The start of each school year brings new challenges and goals and we invite you to take part in them.
The mission of HCA’s PTA is to support and enrich every child’s learning experience through special programs, events and opportunities.  Strong parental involvement and support is a long tradition at HCA.  It’s through your participation we are able to achieve our mission.  We also consider it vital that parents take an active role in their child’s education and establish a connection between home and school life.
“Catholic Schools Raise the Standard” is this year’s theme.  As parents, we can help raise the standards for our children, their education, our school and our community.  There are several ways a parent can be involved:

• Attend the monthly PTA meetings.
• Volunteer for one or more of our children’s activities/events.
• Volunteer to be a Class Parent.
• Attend and participate in HCA special events.
• Volunteer for a committee.

The PTA Board members are here to serve our fellow parents, our children and our school.  We encourage everyone to serve in some capacity.  We invite you to participate.  Share your ideas, suggestions, skills, questions and concerns with us.  We look forward to a great year!
