When the National Junior Honor Society was established by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in 1929, the hope of the principals involved was to create an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. These ideals of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character remain as relevant today as they were in 1929.

Today the National Junior Honor Society has become a prestigious organization, ranking high among administrators, faculty members, students, parents, and residents of the school community. Its reputation for excellence is the result of years of commitment on the part of everyone involved.

Through NJHS chapter service activities, members maintain and extend the qualities that won them their selection. Membership is thus both an honor and a commitment.

Hoboken Catholic Academy proudly continues this tradition of excellence, as the first members of the Hoboken Catholic Academy Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society were formally inducted into membership in the spring of 2013.

The following information from the local chapter by-laws outlines the requirements for membership and selection to the HCA Chapter of the NJHS.
